From the Principal
As we come to the end of another school year, it is with a sense of pride and gratitude that I share this final newsletter article with you. This year has been a journey filled with growth, achievements, and moments that have defined our school community.
First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our staff. Their commitment to excellence and passion for education have deeply contributed to our collective success. Together, we have fostered an environment where students are not just learners but contributors in a joyful and supportive community.
Swimming Carnival
Thank you to everyone who contributed to a successful swimming carnival this year. Mr Higgins for your organisation and running of the day, our staff who all contributed and to our parent volunteers – thank you!
Our incredible students: Your enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and team spirit whilst giving YOUR BEST in every race showcased the true spirit of our school community. You are all amazing!
New Playground Equipment
Our much-anticipated new play equipment has officially arrived on campus! This marks a significant milestone for our school, and I couldn’t be more excited about the positive impact it will have on our students’ playtime experiences. Thank you to our P and F for funding this equipment for our students.
End of Semester/Year Reports
This year has been filled with many successes for all students. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to provide a nurturing learning environment which has encompassed newly developed units of learning aligned with v9.0 of the Australian Curriculum. The commitment of our students has shone through in their accomplishments – we are proud of each of you. Student reports will be uploaded to Parent Lounge on Friday 24 November.
Holidays
Holidays are almost here – let us also look forward to the joy and relaxation that the holiday season brings. It is a time to cherish moments with loved ones, express gratitude, and recharge for the adventures that await in the coming year.
We had 2 families express their desire for us to share a timely reminder about holiday safety as we enjoy the great outdoors.
Please be vigilant of dangers that can appear anywhere. In particular, please remind your children about snakes and sharps that have not been disposed of appropriately.
End of year letter from Acting Principal
I will be sending a letter home in the coming weeks advising of staffing and class allocation for all students in 2024. Please continue to check your email for this important communication.
Challenges Faced and Overcome:
This year has brought some challenges for our school. However, it is during these times that our resilience has shone through. The support and cooperation of our entire school community has been a blessing during this time, and it has been tremendous to have used these times as opportunities for growth at St John’s Lutheran Primary School.
Thank you, Lord, for the blessings you have bestowed on us. You have provided us with more than we could ever have imagined. You have surrounded us with people who always look out for us. You have given us a school community who bless us every day with kind words and actions.

Curriculum Connections
Year 6 students are busy preparing for their Year 6 Market Day. Students have been busy creating products and designing advertisements for their products.
Throughout this (HASS) Economics and Business unit, students have developed an understanding of opportunity cost and why business decisions involve trade-offs. They have learned how businesses provide goods and services and how it is important to consider the effect of consumer and financial decisions on individuals, the community and the environment.
The Year 6 Market Day will be held this Friday 24th November at 8am. There will be live music by Matthew Barker and lots of awesome items to purchase.

SSRC Angels Community Blankets – A Patchwork of love
As you know, the SSRC and other school community members have been working to create a crocheted blanket for use in the Angels Community Room. After two terms, we have been able to generate not only one, but two finished products. They look amazing! Thank you to all of the contributors to these blankets, with particular mention to Mrs Marie MacDougal, for her efforts in bringing the squares together.
Journey Through ADVENT – Advent Devotional Booklet
‘Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas and continues to Epiphany on January 6. The birth of Jesus was heralded in by angels, worshipped by shepherds and wise men, and was given to the world as a gift of God’s love for us. During this time of Advent, you can explore the gifts that God has given through His Son: Love, Hope, Joy, Patience, Peace and Faithfulness. These are all gifts of God’s kindness and grace to His people.’ Please follow the link below to access the Advent Devotional Booklet produced by the Lutheran Tract Mission.
Journey through Advent Devotional Booklet (ltm.org.au)
May your faith and family grow through this Advent Season as we rejoice in God’s gifts to us in the birth of His Son, Jesus, at Christmas. Many heartfelt blessings to your family from our St John’s School Family.
