Link to Email from Mrs Delwyn Ainsworth, St John’s Lutheran Primary School Council Chair: 15 August 2023 – Staff Announcement

I am both honoured and excited to address you as the Acting Principal of our school. It is with great humility and a sense of purpose that I step into this role, knowing the incredible responsibility that comes with it. While the duration of this interim period is unknown, I am committed to providing strong leadership and ensuring the continued smooth operation of our school. I am dedicated to serving our school community and fostering an environment where every student continues to flourish and reach their potential.

Throughout my journey as an educator, I have come to understand that a school is not just a place of learning, but a community that thrives on collaboration, growth, and mutual respect. As Acting Principal, I am eager to embrace these values and work closely with each and every one of you to ensure the success of our students.

Please be assured that I will continue to serve and support each and every member of our St John’s community. I understand that effective communication is vital for a successful partnership between the school and our families. I am committed to maintaining an open line of communication and encourage you to reach out to me and our Senior Leadership team at any time.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve as Acting Principal of St John’s Lutheran Primary School and thank you for entrusting me with this role.

I wish Mr Mallett and his family every blessing as they embark on their next chapter. I know as a school community we pray that the Mallett family have a path filled with joy, success and opportunity.

Curriculum Connections

“Learning and Teaching” in our school – some reminders and updates. Continued from our last edition.

As educators, parents, and guardians, it is our collective responsibility to create an environment that sparks curiosity and ignites passion for lifelong learning in our young people.

Incorporating Technology in Education:

In the digital age, technology plays a crucial role in education. Integrating educational apps, interactive online platforms, and multimedia resources into lessons enhances engagement and facilitates personalized learning. Our Teaching staff ensure that technology is used responsibly to complement a variety of best practice teaching methods.

Creating a Safe and Inclusive Learning Environment:

We believe that a safe and inclusive environment is vital for effective learning. Our school strives to celebrate diversity, where each student feels valued and respected. By fostering a sense of belonging, students are more open to sharing their ideas and opinions, contributing to a rich and dynamic learning experience.

Cultivating a Love for Reading:

Cultivating a love of reading in children is a journey that involves creativity, enthusiasm, and a deep appreciation for the magic of books. By fostering a positive reading environment and showing students the joys of exploring new worlds through literature, we are nurturing a lifelong passion for learning and imagination.

As we embrace the ever-evolving landscape of education, our commitment to providing a nurturing, interactive, and innovative learning environment remains steadfast. Together, let us nurture the spark of curiosity in our children, encouraging them to explore, discover, and become lifelong learners.

Thank you for your continued support in shaping the future of our young minds.

World of Maths

Last week we had World of Maths visit all students from Prep – Year 6. This was an engaging and hands-on experience for students to solve mathematical problems. The feedback from students and staff was all positive!

Science Week

Science surrounds us in our daily lives. It fuels our understanding of the natural world, inspires technological advancements, and challenges us to question and explore. Science Week serves as a reminder for us embrace the spirit of curiosity and wonder that lies at the heart of scientific exploration. Thank you to our Year 5 and Year 6 students and teachers for organising our Science Extravaganza this week – please check out the photos from the day!

Thank you also to Ms A for organising those students who attended the Reef Guardian Science Together event this week. This was a wonderful opportunity for those students learn about conservation and the protection of the Great Barrier Reef through special guest speakers and engaging in hands-on activities.

SSRC

Our Student Service Representative Council (SSRC) team have been meeting throughout the year with both Mrs Anderson and Mrs Carroll. The students have been discussing ways in which they can best serve their school and local community. This term, we will be working on a crocheting project aiming to generate a blanket for donation to Angels Community Room. Students met last week to learn how to crochet their own square. Thank you to Mrs MacDonald , Mrs Heidke, Mrs Wooldridge and Ms Linderberg for taking the students through their first lesson. If there are any other members of the school community who would like to be involved in this cause, please contact Mrs Carroll or Mrs Anderson. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve our local community and we encourage you to get involved.

Whilst Term Three last year, saw our Hamper Drive commence, a Hamper Drive has been scheduled for later in the year in support of the Salvation Army’s Hamper Appeal in lead up to the Christmas period. Further information will be provided regarding this drive toward the end of the term.

All hair styles are to to be clean, tidy and in a moderate style with no severe variations in hair length permitted such as mullet style, extreme shaves or tracks. Please ensure undercuts are no less than a two.

Any watches warn to school, are to be worn in school colours, and if watches hold, smart watch functionality, these watches are to be switched to school mode during school hours.

 SCHOOL COMMUNITY SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE

Thank you to those families who joined us for our Community Sunday Worship Service on Sunday 13 August at St John’s Lutheran Church. What a wonderful way to worship together and praise God, nurturing our faith in Him and encouraging one another. I’m sure those in attendance would agree it was a wonderful morning. Thank you again, to all those students who participated in bible readings, prayers, action group and singing and to particularly our parents and families who joined us. Thankyou staff and to St John’s Lutheran Kindergarten for joining in our worship service and we look forward to our next Community Sunday Worship Service, which will take place on 22 October (our last Community Sunday Worship Service) and will directly involve students from Year One, Year Four Class and The Year Four/Five Class.
